News for Nonprofit Blogs #1

I sometimes get e-mails to post nonprofit related information to this blog. Most of the time, it has nothing to do with the content of this blog (blogging).

I decided there has to be a way to connect these news items to blogging. Most likely you are reading this blog because you have a blog. I know as a blogger, you always need topics to write about. That is why I have decided to name this new monthly posting "News for Nonprofit Blogs". If you are a nonprofit blogger, you might be interested in blogging about these topics.

Here is this month's entry-

I was sent information about two campaigns related to Heart Health Month which is in February.

  1. MissionFish and Spotlight on Healthy Hearts Campaign

MissionFish is the nonprofit that powers the eBay Giving Works program which allows nonprofits to raise funds on eBay. Anyone can sell an item on eBay and donate 10% to 100% of the final sale price to one of the over 9, 500 nonprofits registered with MissionFish.

This January and February, join eBay Giving Works in shining a "
Spotlight on Healthy Hearts." Help raise awareness of heart disease and other health issues that impact heart health by raising money for organizations dedicated to keeping us healthy.

  2. Cheerios Helping Hearts campaign

February is Heart Health month and since heart health is such an important issue for women, Cheerios has partnered with WomenHeart and The Heart Truth's Red Dress campaign to raise money for the fight against heart disease in women with the Cheerios Helping Hearts campaign.

To help in the fight against heart disease in women, consumers can enter codes at
http://www.cheerioshelpinghearts.com/. For every code entered by January 30, 2008, Cheerios will donate $1 (up to $500,000) to WomenHeart. These codes can be found inside specially marked boxes of Cheerios.

Please note: All news submitted to me will be posted on this blog in the middle of February or towards the end of the month.
